Same reason why you shoot a team mate in the head with a cross bow that heals them, and shooting a rocket at your feet will make you fly.

I love how physics doesn't apply to dead bodies in TF2. Once I got killed by a sentry just before a grenade blew me up. I died laughing. XD But it's okay because respawn

This happened to me once, I was a pyro and a got backstabed and my corpse just flew across the map and it flew right in a friendly heavy's face and the guy fliped the hell out i think it kill him (the game character he was playing as) who thought that, that silly glitch would be so dangerous?...
